Step One:

Put the chopped rhubarb and strawberries in a mixing bowl. Add the almond extract, and dust with the sugar and cornstarch. 

Step Two:

In a separate bowl, add the flour, butter, pecans, oats, salt, cinnamon, and brown sugar. Mix everything together using a pastry blender.

Step Three:

Arrange the fruit mixture on the bottom of your baking dish, in a nice even layer.
