Instructions
For best results, chill your glass in the freezer for at least 30 minutes before making the mocktail.
Optional garnish: dip the rim of an 8-ounce coupe or martini glass in simple syrup. Then dip into the sugar until it is coated.
2 tablespoons turbinado sugar
Fill a cocktail shaker with 1 cup of crushed ice. Pour in the chilled espresso, simple syrup, and heavy whipping cream. Shake vigorously for 30 seconds, then strain into a chilled coupe or martini glass.
1 cup crushed ice, 4 ounces brewed espresso, 1 ounce simple syrup, 2 ounces heavy whipping cream
Notes
This mocktail has the best flavor with espresso or strong coffee. You can also use cold brew concentrate.
Cut the simple syrup to ½ an ounce or less for a less sweet mocktail. Increase if you like it sweeter.
Your can purchase simple syrup, or make your own. To make homemade Simple Syrup, combine 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat until the sugar dissolved. Let it cool to room temperature, then chill it in the fridge.
Maple syrup, honey, or a stevia based sweetener can also be substituted for simple syrup if you prefer.
If you don't have a cocktail shaker, you can use a mason jar with a tight fitting lid.
Add Complexity with a dash of cherry coffee blast bitters or orange bitters from All the Bitter, a nonalcoholic bitters company.
